ONDC! The network which started with merely 1281 merchants in January 2023 now has more than 570,000 merchants including small merchants, big companies , pharmaceutical companies, the auto drivers and a lot more along with this it is growing everyday. Though it has been observed that ONDC is mostly led by mobility hailing apps like Namma Yatri. So when the idea of ONDC was started it had 3 main targets: Grocery, Food and Mobility but at that time mobility picked up volume really fast. Mobility's contribution is down From 95% April 2023 to about 50% in July 2024.

An exciting update about ONDC: 18% F&B orders in Bangalore now coming from ONDC network.

Major share still consists of the mobility sector. ONDC has partnered with Chennai metro to launch its ‘metro rail service’. The customers can buy tickets through the apps registered on ONDC like Paytm and Namma Yatri. Following Chennai Metro, Kochi metro rails also joined ONDC. On 9th September 2023, ONDC also signed an MoU with Kerala's Transport Department to expand the open mobility network statewide. This agreement transforms the Kochi Open Mobility Network into the Kerala Open Mobility Network (KOMN), aiming to integrate all transportation modes in Kerala into the ONDC network. The project will offer affordable and convenient access through user-friendly apps for both buyers and sellers, enhancing the state's transportation system. Kochi Metro Rail is now the second metro service to join the network. Any new buyer app joining ONDC will instantly be able to offer Kochi Metro ticket bookings.

Along with this the Hyderabad Auto & Taxi Drivers Association (HATDA) has partnered with Tiffy Digital to launch India’s first ride-hailing app, Yaary on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform. The app aims to address concerns like car unavailability and excessive commissions charged by other platforms.
ONDC is designed to make transactions smooth between buyers, sellers, service providers, and government entities. It offers a common set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to ensure different digital commerce platforms can work together easily. This interoperability helps streamline processes and enhances the user experience across various stakeholders.
