Is JioMart joining ONDC too ? JioMart which is an Indian e-commerce platform owned by Reliance Retail, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries. It was launched in 2019, which initially focused on online groceries before expanding into other categories such as fashion, home essentials, electronics, and lifestyle products by adopting a marketplace model, which is an e-commerce platform where multiple third-party sellers list and sell their products, while the platform itself does not own or manage inventory. It helps in transactions by connecting buyers and sellers, often earning revenue through commissions or fees.

Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) has launched a pilot program on the government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) through Fynd which is a multiplatform tech company specializing in retail-tech solutions. Many famous companies like Meesho, Delhivery, Dunzo, Zoho have joined ONDC for leveraging its benefits. Till now approximately 700 companies including financial services giants like Paytm and phonePe have already signed up on ONDC , while 300 are in various stages of integration.

Currently one reliance retail store in Madurai, Tamil Nadu is live on the seller side of ONDC through fynd. Apart from that a few more stores are in pipeline in Tamil Nadu, they are testing things out , it is being said that if they become successful, then 5 more stores will be added and after that 100 more stores will be added on ONDC. Eventually all brands owned by reliance retail will go live on ONDC.
Fynd currently services over 15000 pin codes, it launched its seller app on ONDC in February. Its buyer app is expected to go live on the network in the second quarter of 2025.
In FY24 Reliance Retail had 304 million registered customers and reportedly 1.26 billion transactions. It operates in sectors like grocery, consumer electronics, fashion and lifestyle and pharma under various brands. So if Reliance Retail, which already has a large number of sellers and businesses, becomes a full fledged participant on ONDC , it would help speed up consumer adoption of the network.
